I attended Iowa State University where I majored in Elementary Education. I started my teaching career in 1991 in the Des Moines Public Schools as a substitute teacher. I have taught kindergarten, 1st, 4th and 5th grades. For sixteen years I taught fourth grade here at Pleasant Hill, but moved to fifth grade for the 2014-2015 school year. I will be teaching 5th grade again this year. I have one son Zach, who is a driver for United Parcel Service. He is also a graduate of Iowa State University. I am married to a wonderful man named Brad who has two grown children. We have two wonderful grandchildren, Grant who is 10 years old, and Stella who is 5 years old. Together we enjoy antiques, movies, gardening, bicycling, going for rides in our 1967 Mustang convertible, playing with the grandchildren and going for long walks.
I attended Grand View College. I graduated in 1999, majoring in Elementary Education. I received endorsements in the area of Reading, Language Arts, and Early Childhood. There, I taught 4th and 5th grade and was also the 3rd-5th Literacy Leader. This is my 16th year at Pleasant Hill teaching 5th grade. My husband, Mike, is the elementary principal at Runnells Elementary School in Runnells, Iowa. We have been married 20 years.
