Biography

Motto is “What’s Best for Kids? -Whatever It Takes!”

Some background information on me. I enjoyed 18 years of growing up on a farm getting to bale hay, walk beans, ride my pony, and show livestock at the fair. In my spare time growing up, I loved to drive my go-cart and swim. My teen years were busy with school, sports, working on the farm, and working at Hy-Vee.

I graduated from Rockford, Iowa High School in 1986. I attended Simpson College in Indianola from 1986-1990, a reading endorsement from Drake in 1992, and my masters in educational administration in 2001, from UNI.

I will be starting my 34th year of education this year. When I was a teacher, I taught grades 2, 4, and 5, for eleven years. During my teaching career, I was also an athletic coach for track, softball, basketball, volleyball, and cross-country. I am starting my 23rd year as a principal, and I’m looking forward to year number seventeen at Pleasant Hill Elementary.  I believe learning should be fun and challenging, and I am blessed to work in such a great school in a wonderful community.

Our kids are WORTH IT!

I have a very active and fun family. My husband, Steve, is a teacher at Summit Middle School in Johnston and an assistant high school wrestling coach. I have two adult sons: Travis and Zach.  We keep busy with wrestling.    I like to garden, read, bike, and connect with family and friends.

Please remember that my door is always open, and our Pleasant Hill School is great because of our families, staff, community, and students.
