5th Grade Takes 2nd Place!

Fifth graders at Pleasant Hill Elementary spent the second half of September planning, prepping and painting the blade of a snow plow for the 13th Annual Snow Plow Painting Contest for the Des Moines Department of Public Works. Judging was held at the Snow & Ice Control Open House that was located on the Court Ave. bridge last weekend during the Downtown Farmer’s Market. We had a fantastic time working on our plow. Students worked together in deciding on a theme for our plow: Lego Frozen. We spent a week painting a beautiful winter background. Our second week was spent transforming the characters from the movie Frozen into Lego people. Well, students and staff were excited to find out that we got second place in the contest!! Since the 5th grade worked so hard on this project, our prize money will go toward their end-of-the-year graduation activities. Way to go 5th grade!!
